My credentials and approach
My name is Alison Lord and I have mixed a business career, spanning 30 years both in Public and Private Sector with complementary therapy practice.
In respect of my journey into Counselling, I started as a volunteer on a local mental health helpline within a hospital. As a result of this experience I went on to complete a Certificate in Counselling which was my first introduction to person-centred therapy and I immediately followed this with the Advanced Diploma in Counselling . I have provided voluntary counselling within a GP practice and private counselling. The skills I have gained through counselling have also supplemented my corporate career in terms of people management, people engagement, stakeholder and client relationships. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP - Membership No: 00955365).
Working across a number of sectors, for example, central government , retail, IT services and financial services has also provided me with a broad range of experience of hierarchical organisations, office and company politics, recognition and reward structures, appraisals and development and the impact of TUPE and redundancies. All of this valuable experience underpins my ability to be an effective coach as I do understand some of the barriers you consider may impact your aspirations in a working environment.

I absolutely believe in the person-centred approach to counselling and the conditions underpinning this practice filter through into the other complementary therapies that I practice. I truly believe that it only takes one person in your life to value you to make a difference. It happened to me, it can happen to you!
